About the print

From a series of comic prints made in Paris around 1690 by Nicolas de Larmessin II, in which each tradesperson is dressed in the tools of their trade. The fireworks maker’s costume is built from rockets, Catherine wheels and fireworks, from head to toe. These playful engravings were popular in their day and are still a favourite with print collectors.

How to solve it

A single figure on a plain ground: build the figure from the head down, following the rockets and wheels, which are each distinct. The plain background is the slow part — place it last, by its edges against the figure.
