Privacy Policy
What this site stores, what it measures, and what it never collects.
Last updated 9 October 2026
The short version. There are no accounts, so we hold no name, email address or password for you. Your puzzle progress, favourites and settings stay in your own browser and are never uploaded. We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which puzzles are played, which does set cookies. Nothing is sold, and there is no advertising.
Who runs this site
Puzzle Jigsaw Puzzle operates the website at puzzlejigsawpuzzle.com. This policy covers that site only. It explains what happens to information when you visit, and applies to everyone, wherever you are.
Information stored on your own device
Playing a puzzle creates data, and that data stays with you. Using your browser's own storage (IndexedDB and local storage), this site saves:
- the state of any puzzle you have started, so you can close the tab and resume it;
- which puzzles you have finished, at what size and how fast, and your level, points and daily-puzzle streak — which is what grows your garden on the My Garden page;
- the puzzles you have starred as favourites;
- your settings, such as text size, the board surface and whether the picture is shown behind the pieces.
This information never leaves your device. It is not transmitted to us, we have no ability to read it, and it is not linked to any identifier. Two consequences worth knowing: your progress does not follow you to another device or browser, and clearing your browsing data deletes it permanently. You can remove it at any time through your browser's "clear site data" controls, without affecting your ability to use the site.
Analytics
This site uses Google Analytics 4, provided by Google, to understand how many people visit and which puzzles they play. It is configured with IP anonymisation enabled, which means your IP address is truncated before it is stored.
Google Analytics collects, in aggregate:
- which pages are viewed, and in what order;
- approximate location, derived from a truncated IP address — typically no more precise than a city or region;
- device, browser and operating system, and screen size;
- the site or search engine that referred you, if any.
Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser (named _ga and
similar) to tell repeat visits from new ones. These are first-party cookies and
can persist for up to two years. Google acts as a data processor for this
information and may process it outside your country. Google's own
privacy policy
governs what it does with the data it receives.
You can opt out entirely by installing Google's opt-out browser add-on, by blocking cookies for this site, or by enabling your browser's tracking protection. None of these affect the puzzles — every feature works with analytics blocked.
Server logs
The site is hosted on Firebase Hosting, a Google service. Like any web server, it records requests — including IP address, timestamp, the page requested and your browser's user-agent string. These logs are generated by the hosting provider for security and reliability, retained for a limited period, and are not used to build any profile of you.
What this site does not do
- No accounts, so no names, email addresses or passwords are collected.
- No advertising, and no advertising or cross-site tracking networks.
- No selling or sharing of personal information with third parties.
- No social media tracking pixels or embedded third-party widgets.
- No newsletter or mailing list, and no contact forms that store what you type.
Images and external links
Puzzle images are served from this site's own image server at images.puzzlejigsawpuzzle.com, which runs on Cloudflare's network; the fonts are served from this site itself. Nothing is loaded from an advertising or tracking company while you play. Puzzle pages link out to the museum or Pixabay pages the pictures come from; once you follow such a link, that site's own privacy policy applies.
Children
This site is suitable for all ages and collects no personal information from anyone, children included. Since there are no accounts and no data submission of any kind, no age verification is required or performed.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal information held about you. In practice, the information described above that is under your control — saved puzzles, times and settings — is already held solely by you and can be deleted at any time by clearing your browser's site data. For the analytics data held by Google, use the opt-out methods described above, or contact us and we will help where we can.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes materially — for example if analytics are added, removed or replaced — the date at the top of this page will be updated. This version is dated 9 October 2026.
