About this puzzle
Watercolour Harbour is a free online jigsaw puzzle you can play straight in your browser, at any size from 12 to 500 pieces. Drag a piece near where it belongs and it snaps into place; joined pieces then move together as one. Your progress saves on this device, so you can close the tab and carry on later — and every finish earns points towards your next level and grows something in My Garden.
The picture is original artwork made for the Jigsaw Puzzles app, and it plays here exactly as it does there.
How to solve it
Treat a figure painting as two puzzles with different rules. The lit subject — a face, a white collar, a bright sleeve — goes by recognition. The dark ground around it goes by tone and brushstroke alone, so turn the piece count down if those passages feel like guesswork, and zoom right in: you can see individual strokes. Folk art and ornament are the reverse — busy everywhere, so sort by pattern rather than by colour.
